Ann Njeri

Ann Njeri is currently the Board Secretary after being elected in April 2012.She is a 4th year BCOM student at Strathmore University .She loves the fact that she doesn't have to be in the IT industry so as to contribute to building Wikimedia projects. She joined Wikimedia at the end of 2010. She participated in organizing the event for Wikipedia 10 anniversary and thereafter participated in the Offline Wikipedia project in the Nyeri region.In her own words;

My dream does not differ from that of Wikimedia, I dream of a time that free knowledge would be distributed to all corners of this Country.

As part of the board one of her aims is to have Wikimedia Kenya partner with various institutions which donate or sell computers at fair prices while others contribute to increasing our pool of knowledge. This way, we can contribute more to development of our community through better access to free knowledge. She is also aiming to break the mentality that only men can do it when it comes to IT and tech, ladies also have a role to play and are capable.

Alex Wafula

Alex Wafula

Alex is the current project manager after being elected in the 2012 AGM that was held in April 2012.He is a Wikimedia contributor, a Mozilla contributor and he has also done stuff with the Nairobi GTUG, in short he has always loved sharing knowledge. For me it's great when you discover something new, but mind blowing when you assist someone else discover it as well and that's what Wikimedia is all about. He has been instrumental in the planning of WikiSaturdays, WTN, Kenyan topics for Wikipedia for schools, HIV-AIDS Project etc as well as connections made with other like minded institutions eg Ushahidi, Mozilla, OLPC etc. And not forgetting Asaf's visit. He has been present in all meetups and involved in making venues available as well. Involved in WTN throughout its stalls, and most of our activities this year - some listed above. I'm practically mostly around.
